IN SEARCH OF TEAK
We are now maintaining a stock of 10,000 bd.ft. of Plantation Teak. The quality of the lumber is very good. The majority of it is straight grain 6” & wider 6’ & longer. It has that beautiful golden teak color similar to the Asian Teak and yes will still dull your tools. I believe it to be easier to work than Asian Teak because of its’ lessor oil content and slightly softer texture from higher growth rates. The lumber was sawn from twenty to forty year old trees ranging in size from 12-30+ inches. The yields are low due to the lack of and, or the sophistication level of plantation management. We are still seeing many large fence line trees that are filled with knots and at times nails and barbed wire. This translates into some highly figured lumber.
These are the grades of Plantation Teak we offer:

I believe the availability and quality of teak from the Americas will continue to improve as more of the well managed plantations start to mature. Perhaps it will replace mahogany in the 21st century. So start including it in your line of products.
